Can savon de Marseille be used on sensitive or babies skin?
Yes. Savon de Marseille is recommended by dermatologists in Europe especially for sensitive skins and has long been used for bathing babies. However, there are many factors that can make skin react. If in doubt, try any new product with caution on a small area of the skin. For sensitive skins we especially recommend: Olive, Lavender and Rose fragrances.
The quality of this traditional French soap has been guaranteed by a king! In 1688 King Louis 14th decreed that in order to be able to carry the name 'Savon de Marseille' this special soap, made only in the Marseille region of France, must contain a minimum of 72% vegetable oil-usually olive oil. Each batch of savon de Marseille can take up to 2 weeks to make and the recipe today is largely unchanged from the original ingredients first used many hundreds of years ago..
Does savon de Marseille have a shelf life?
Savon de Marseille will keep almost indefinitely if kept dry or unopened. It is naturally preserved and is paraben free. All our soap has a recommendation on the packaging specifying it should be used within 12 months after opening.
